Okinawa City formulated its Basic Plan for Tourism Promotion in fiscal 2017 and has since been making efforts to promote local tourism.

We are conducting this questionnaire with people visiting Okinawa in order to obtain information that can be used as a reference in our future efforts of tourism promotion. We ask for your cooperation by completing this questionnaire and giving us your frank views, with an understanding of the purpose behind it.

Outline of Okinawa City

Before starting the questionnaire, please read the following for some background information.

Okinawa City Location

Okinawa City is located close to the middle of the main island of Okinawa.

After World War II, it developed as a “base town.” It is consequently characterized by a “champuru culture,” meaning a blend of American and various other cultural influences.

  • Southeast Botanical Gardens

It is also known as an “eisa dance town,” and is widely recognized as a center of music mixing overseas musical styles with Okinawa folk music.

Okinawa City has a variety of appealing tourism resources. These include facilities such as the Okinawa Zoo & Museum, which contains the only zoo in Okinawa Prefecture, and the Southeast Botanical Gardens.
